Due to the high performance of i-access over many years Surrey County Council and SABP have worked together to find a commissioning model that did not cause the damage and service disruption procurement processes can often result in. i-access is now jointly delivered by Surrey County Council and Surrey and Borders under a cooperation agreement. This is an ongoing agreement, which enables i-access to continue to deliver a quality service to Surrey residents without the disruption of an impending procurement process

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in a full-time role primarily as the Extended Brief Intervention Worker for the i-access team.

The successful candidate would be enthusiastic, committed to working with people with substance misuse problems and supporting them towards improving their health and wellbeing in their recovery from addiction. The role would consist of facilitating our Extended Brief Intervention Pathway focussing on individuals who have moderate alcohol problems. This role comprises of offering high quality interventions based on relapse prevention techniques in order to reduce service users alcohol use. Additional roles would involve, but are not limited to, facilitating groups/1:1 interventions for service users at different stages of their recovery journey for the wider i-access community teams. You will be joining an experienced and friendly multi-disciplinary team in a supportive working environment, with a visible and accessible management team who are committed to providing a high quality of service to our population. You can choose from the three bases - Guildford, Chertsey or Redhill but there may be requirements to cover our other bases across Surrey on occasion where needed.

Job responsibilities

To implement the Extended Brief Intervention Pathway

To undertake assessments, plan, deliver and evaluate substance misuse treatment.

To work within the parameters of Extended Brief Intervention Pathway and ensure service users are offered high quality relapse prevention advice, information and signposting to support their recovery.

To provide high quality harm reduction advice and interventions.

To work closely with the MDT, service users and group supervisor delivering groups, 1:1 work, telephone assessments and work collaboratively with the team.

To facilitate groups in line with the i-access treatment pathways as required, either in the format of a group or on a 1:1 basis depending on service user need.

To undertake assessments, plan, deliver and evaluate substance misuse treatment.

To work closely with the MDT, service users and group supervisor delivering groups, 1:1 work, telephone assessments and work collaboratively with the team.

To ensure clinical records are updated, maintained and completed in line with local operational guidelines and trust policy.

To liaise with group participants keyworkers, updating progress and reviewing the care plan and risk assessment appropriately.

To participate in care planning meetings, including the preparation and presentation of reports and information.

To maintain all records to the expected professional standard and actively ensure good communication within the team and between sessions.

To maintain agreed standards of care and report to and advise the management team if there are any difficulties.

To act as positive role model for colleagues and others through personal and professional conduct and practice.

All staff will have a sound awareness of Safeguarding issues and be clear about their respective roles and responsibilities to report, respond to and share information in relation to Safeguarding Adults, Safeguarding Children, Domestic Abuse and Public Protection. All staff will have a working knowledge of and adhere to the Data Protection Act and will not disclosure to any person or organisation, any confidential information that comes into their possession in the course of their employment.

To fully participate in the Trusts performance review and personal development planning process on an annual basis.

Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with line manager as part of the personal development planning process.

To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.

To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which the post holder works.

To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover.

To contribute to a healthy and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and Trust policies.

To contribute to the prevention and control of health care associated infection by adhering to Trust policies and guidelines.
