Job summary
We are seeking a compassionate, team oriented and dynamic Band 7 Genetic Counsellor to work as part of our specialist Inherited Cardiac Conditions team. This will include assessing and giving advice to patients in clinic and over the phone and providing support to our genomic associate. The post holder will have access to CPD, as well as quality counselling supervision in keeping with the AGNC Counselling Supervision requirements.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will autonomously manage their own case load as well as taking part in the weekly ICC MDT clinic. The post holder will be required to provide a mixture of in person, telephone and virtual appointments in Oxford. There will be opportunities to support and educate STPs and trainee genetic counsellors, as well as contribute to local and regional projects and audits. There will be opportunities to support colleagues through registration, for those who meet the GCRB criteria.
We welcome applications from: those who have successfully completed or are due to complete the National School of Clinical Scientists STP Genomic Counselling in September 2023 and who are registered or are pending registration with the HCPC; Overseas trained GCs who hold a valid Eligibility to Register Certificate from the UK Genetic Counsellor Registration Board; and UK MSc Genetic Counselling graduates (Cardiff, Glasgow) who have not yet achieved GCRB registration.
