Job summary
We are looking to appoint Band 5 Occupational Therapists to support our Homesafe teams across the county on a bank basis.
We are looking for forward thinking, enthusiastic therapists who are passionate about occupational therapy and enjoy working in busy environments. Your main role will be to facilitate safe and timely hospital discharges using Occupational Therapy techniques, working closely with the multidisciplinary team. Our bank occupational therapists thrive on the ability to adapt to new environments and ways of working with ease, and enjoy meeting and working with new people.
Bank staff are given an induction and supported to develop their clinical skills.
Candidates must be able to meet travel requirements of the role and have access to a car that can be used for work purposes. We have a variety of shifts available 7 days per week between 8am-8pm
Main duties of the job
Operationally responsible to Head Occupational Therapist/Team Manager.Professionally responsible to Head Occupational Therapist/Professional Lead OT.
Responsible for: Own clinical practice, delegating work to support staff
To work with a wide range of patients in the areas of medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, elderly care, and clients with physical disability and illness.
To comply with the College of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and National and Trust procedures.
To work autonomously respecting the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
Your clinical expertise will be provided where it is required as directed by your line manager.
Service provision includes working in a variety of settings, such as hyper-actue emergency setting, care of the elderly, orthopeadics & intermediate care.

- To provide a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service in the specific specialised area.
- To ensure service provision in the specialised area is prioritised and service delivery is made effectively within resource constraints.
- To practice within the multidisciplinary team, providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessments, diagnosis and treatment using clinical reasoning skills.
- To manage a defined caseload of patients (often with highly complex needs), using evidence based clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- To undertake complex assessments, plan, implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions. This work will take place both in patients homes and hospital.
- To provide leadership for junior and support staff, through supervision and mentoring.

- To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within the team, holding responsibility for defined projects through specialist interest and steering group.
- To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy service.
