Job summary
To manage small to medium scale I.T. projects ensuing project purpose, objectives and benefits are clearly defined and delivered to agreed timescales. The projects will range in size and scale and will be determined by the priorities of the clients.
The post holder will quickly develop credibility within the organisation and be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships, particularly with those impacted by the change, and with senior project and clinical leads.
The post holder will have a key role of ensuring internal and external stakeholders are engaged early and able to support project delivery timescales.
The post holder supports Digital Transformation and Countywide IT Service in the delivery of client I.T. programmes, often taking the lead on workstreams that form part of a larger programme, to deliver specific project objectives. This will be achieved by working under the guidance of senior project colleagues or project sponsor. The post holder will therefore need to cope with working to varied senior managers and clinical leads, sometimes with competing priorities.
Main duties of the job
Key Results Areas:
o To manage I.T. projects in accordance with good practice to documented and agreed time, cost and quality objectives.
o Assist Trust staff in understanding sometimes highly complex I.T. technical and project management information. The post holder will be required to manage project progress where decisions and actions may not be well received. Persuasive and diplomacy skills are essential in resolving issues and to limit the chance of them re-occurring.
o Prepare project reports for management, manage project risks and identify and obtain any support and advice required for the planning and control of projects.
o Present technical project information to non-technical audiences such as non-I.T. project teams and Trust clinical and nursing staff.
o Work within Trust and department guidelines, policies, practices and procedures. When these do not exist, the post holder may be required to create, document and implement new procedures, for approval, particularly pertaining to new projects.
o Will be required to work unsupervised. Outcomes may be defined, but the post holder will decide how they are best achieved. Faults may be resolved using initiative and experience. In some cases, there will be no procedures to follow and may be guided by information sources on the internet.
