Are you passionate about patient and family care? We have an exciting and unique opportunity to join the Northern Fetal Exposure to Medicines Service as a Care Advisor.
FEMS is a pilot service in the North of England, commissioned by NHS England and this role is critical to the provision of care to those patients within the pilot service.
You'll be part of an ambitious, innovative and passionate multi-disciplinary clinical team balancing medical management with a social model of disability management, identifying needs and providing guidance as early as possible to enable best outcomes, support and care pathways for our patients.
As a Regional Care Advisor you will be an Allied Health Care Professional, or Nurse registered with the appropriate body, skilled and experienced in working with patients with complex health conditions, initiating evidence-based practice & developing care guidelines to address the health and social care needs of patients and their families.

Main duties of the job
- Working in an established team to deliver a new pilot service, Fetal Exposure to Medicines Service
- The regional multidisciplinary clinical team comprises of Clinical Geneticists, Clinical Neuropsychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists

- Advise families and individuals regarding the living options available to them, balancing medical management with a social model of disability management
- Lead in care and education of patients and carers
- Act as an advocate for families and individuals in their interactions with other professional staff and services
- Exercise high levels of judgement, discretion and decision-making in the clinical care of children, young people and adults with conditions relating to a fetal exposure to medicines within a defined geographical area
- Work as an autonomous practitioner delivering specialist expertise and advice
