Main duties of the job

  • To provide a high quality administrative service to Junior Medical Staff / Medical Students and the Education Centre / Clinical Learning Centre acting as a first point of contact for customers using the centres.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to junior doctors / medical student induction, training, appraisal, competence assessment and education plans.
  • To administrate intricate and complex teaching programmes that meet curriculum requirements and Trust priorities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To provide the Medical Education Clinical Team and Senior Workforce Development Officers with appropriate administrative support.
  • To communicate effectively with all undergraduate course leads, specialty educational leads, college tutors and recognised Trainers.
  • To accurately advise junior doctors on Royal College specialty training requirements and national and regional study leave guidelines.
  • To accurately advise medical students on Undergraduate courses and Medical School curriculum requirements.
  • To provide administrative support to Undergraduate and Postgraduate examinations.
  • To maintain records of induction, appraisal, competence assessment and education plans for junior doctors / medical students in the Trust ensuring confidentiality at all times
  • To ensure each junior doctor / medical student has a suitable supervisor and both supervisor and supervisee understand the process and their role in it
  • Prepare and disseminate regular accurate reports
  • To assist with the organisation of Quality Assurance visits
  • To provide administrative support at various meetings, including preparation of agendas, minutes and actioning decisions.
  • Plan, manage and deliver high quality programmes of relevant teaching that is delivered in protected time
  • Monitor attendance at teaching and take appropriate action
  • Evaluate the teaching and make improvements for future programmes
  • To support the Workforce Development Officers in the day-to-day running of the Education Centre & Clinical Learning Centre.
  • Contribute to the setting of annual Medical Education Strategy
  • Ensure delivery of own objectives within the Medical Education Strategy
  • Participates as a member of the Trust Education and Workforce Development team to enable delivery of high quality and innovative workforce planning, education and training programmes which enhance the patient and customer experience
