A vacancy has arisen for a Trust doctor in Respiratory Medicine, based within the Respiratory Medicine Department at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The vacancy is to commence in August 2025 for a 12-month fixed term.
Main duties of the job
This post is an opportunity to gain experience in Respiratory Medicine encompassing management of common and advanced respiratory disease with a particular focus around care on Ward 48, RVI. Educational opportunities, self-development time (including outpatient working in the Chest Clinic RVI) and departmental teaching will be provided to the successful candidate who will be supported to develop areas of interest including research and quality Improvement.

Job responsibilities
Clinical: The successful appointee will work with Respiratory consultants (typically 3-4 based on Ward 48) who rotate through the ward. The successful candidate will work closely with FY1/2 and IMT trainees and a Physician associate in supporting the Ward. They will work closely as part of the MDT, including specialist respiratory physiotherapists and CNS. A clear timetable of duties will be provided that will facilitate out-patient working and radiology MDT meetings as part of SDT in line with the interests of the successful candidate and as agreed with their Educational Supervisor. It is anticipated that development of practical skills including pleural procedures and thoracic ultrasound will be a core aspect of the role which will extend to the Respiratory Procedures Unit (RPU). Flexibility to support the other Respiratory wards at the RVI, Ward 49 (RSU) and Ward 52, will be required as well as a commitment to the medical SHO grade rota which would attract the appropriate banding supplement.
