An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cardiac Rehabilitation team as a Band 6 Specialist Nurse at Freeman Hospital for a 8 month secondment.
This post is based at Freeman Hospital working closely alongside the cardiology, cardiac surgical and community cardiology nursing teams, delivering and providing specialist clinical advice and support to adults with complex cardiac conditions who have had a recent acute event.

Main duties of the job
The Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Department at Freeman Hospital is a tertiary referral center and as such, receives patients from within the North East and UK wide to have their cardiac investigations and treatment.
The post holder will deliver and co-ordinate phase's one and three cardiac rehab to the variety of patients recovering from a range of cardiac conditions and cardiac surgical procedures. This includes patients referred for urgent angiography, PCI, heart failure management, Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD), post Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI/STEMI), coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), valve surgery and implantation of VAD therapy.
There is an expectation that the post holder will rotate within the team to cover phase III cardiac rehab classes twice weekly up until 8pm.
All candidates must ensure that they meet all the essential requirements for the role, please see the job description for the full role details. However having a recognised course in cardiovascular disease as well as Heart Manual/Revascularisation training would be most beneficial.
Desirable requirements or working towards these would include training and supervision in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) skills and the BACPR Part 1 and/or Part 2.
