Job summary

Based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle City Centre, this role is a substantive full time job with on-call, but we are happy to consider applicants wishing to work less than full time with a pro rata share of the on-call.

Candidates for the post must be registered medical practitioners and on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Appointments Committee.

Main duties of the job

This post is based at the Neurosciences Centre. The post-holder will contribute to the daytime diagnostic neuroradiology service and take a share of the diagnostic neuroradiology on call rota. To cover the needs of the service, a subspecialist interest in neuro-oncology and/or low pressure imaging and intervention is desirable.The appointee will have the chance to participate in teaching and supervision of the radiology and neuroradiology trainees.The appointee will be expected to undertake administrative duties in relation to the care of his/her patients and in relation to the running of the Department of Neuroradiology in co-operation with the Heads of Department, Specialty Manager and Clinical Director.The department provides out-of-hours on-call service and in-hours attending service to provide urgent reports and opinions.

  • MBBS or other recognised equivalent medical qualification.
  • FRCR or a Postgraduate qualification of similar seniority.
  • Full GMC Registration.
