Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Clinical Trial Assistants to join the Hepatology Research Team based at the Freeman Hospital and The Reproductive Health and Neonatal Research Team based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The role in the Hepatology Research Team is advertised to replace our current CTA who is seconded into a role that is on trial within the organisation. The post is listed as permanent - should the current CTA need to return to this post suitable arrangements for working will be made within the organisation.
The role in The Reproductive Health and Neonatal Research Team is permanent.
This is a clinical patient facing role, which requires a dynamic individual who can work both individually and as part of a team. As a Clinical Trial Assistant, you will be responsible for recruiting and following up patients in research studies, as part of a wider team. You must be able to work autonomously, and as part of a team. You will be involved in delivering research to patients that is cutting edge, with new therapies being explored.
Both teams cover a wide range of diseases across specialty areas and this is a great opportunity to be part of a world-renowned research team.

- Coordinate and improve trial communication throughout Multi-Disciplinary Teams throughout the Trust
- Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professional to ensure service delivery
- Communicates effectively with research team and study participants and their family members. Is able to provide patients with information, which may be complex or sensitive, regarding their participation in the clinical trial and the care that they will receive as a consequence of that
- Facilitate the recruitment of research participants in to low risk research studies, which is likely to include quality of life and tissue sample collection studies
- Support the research delivery team to successfully deliver a broad ranging portfolio of clinical trials
- Coordinate and supervise housekeeping duties and ordering of all clinical trial supplies
- Co-ordinate the collection transfer and storage of blood / tissue samples in accordance with the Human Tissue Act 2004 as required by trial protocol
