Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Applied Psychologist / Psychological Therapist to join the leadership team within CAMHS Eating Disorders. This post is 15 hours per week, 12 month fixed term, providing maternity cover for the Clinical Lead, and involves shared leadership responsibilities alongside the Operational Lead.

The CAMHS Eating Disorders Team provides specialist assessment and treatment for young people up to 18 years with AN, BN, BED and ARFID, working closely with families. The team also supports comorbid presentations including anxiety, low mood and neurodiversity.

The role includes supporting the leadership of the service, providing clinical oversight of therapeutic pathways, contributing to service development and quality improvement, chairing designated meetings, supporting recruitment and staff development, monitoring performance data, and providing elements of supervision. Promoting team wellbeing and psychological safety is a key focus.

Significant postqualification experience working with children and young people with complex needs is essential. Experience in eating disorders is desirable but not essential. The post supports service development in line with NHSE Eating Disorders commissioning guidance.Based in central Leicester. A full driving licence is essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the overall clinical leadership of the CAMHS Eating Disorders Team, working closely with the Operational Lead to ensure the delivery of a safe, effective and high-quality service.

Key responsibilities include providing clinical oversight of therapeutic treatment pathways; leading and overseeing specific areas of service development and project work; and chairing designated team meetings. The post holder will attend relevant senior leadership and service development meetings and contribute to wider CAMHS initiatives.

The role involves joint responsibility for aspects of recruitment, staff support and team development. You will work collaboratively with the Operational Lead to monitor and respond to key performance indicators, data quality measures and other performance data.

The post holder will provide discrete elements of clinical and/or operational supervision and will support team wellbeing by actively promoting a culture of psychological safety. The role also includes developing the service in line with NHSE Eating Disorders commissioning guidance.

A full driving licence is essential for this post.
