Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fast-paced Business Support Team as a Band 3 Business Assistant within the Families, Young People and Childrens Services Directorate.

We are currently based at Bridge Park Plaza, Thurmaston, on the edge of Watermead Country Park. We will be moving to County Hall, Glenfield Hospital site from End of Spring 2024. Free car parking is available at both sites.

We are currently looking at a blended approach to working and this involves some degree of home working once training has been completed. The role is diverse, with each day bringing new challenges. You will have proven ability in using your own initiative, working with confidential and highly sensitive information, showing attention to details and the ability to work accurately, whilst understanding the importance of adhering to Trust Policies and local procedures. A confident, professional personality with a can do attitude is a must.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a secretarial/assistant capacity and be able to work supportively with others to assist the senior management team in maximising the efficient use of their time and the resources of the service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder would be required to have the essential knowledge, experience and be able to demonstrate within the following areas:

  • Previous experiences of working in an administrative/business support function in an office environment.
  • GCSE in English Language and Maths Grade C/4 or above.
  • Highly skilled in all Microsoft Office Packages.
  • The successful candidate will have experienced minute taking skills
  • NVQ/RQF Level 3 in administration or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience in delivering an efficient administrative service.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Adopt a flexible, self-motivated approach to work.
  • An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively at all levels.
  • Previous experience of organisation, facilitation and recording of meetings.
  • An ability to prioritise work reactively and be confident working independently.

Exceptional written, verbal and face to-face communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and service-users at all levels in health and agencies external to health.

Experience of providing administration support for a range of projects and assisting the project managers in updating key documentation such action logs and presentations. Assertiveness skills to challenge potentially inappropriate or unsafe actions of others, for the benefit of patients and the service.
