Job summary

We are really excited to advertise this permanent, 0.8WTE (4 days), Consultant Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, Forensic) post to lead Secondary Care Psychology Services.

We are looking for a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join us in Pennine Care NHS foundation trust Secondary Care Psychology Services.

There are opportunities for the new post holder to shape this role and further develop the clinical delivery model across secondary care psychology services, to embed the principles of trauma informed care and support and expand the Psychological practitioners working across the pathway, in line with the Psychological professions workforce plan.

The post holder will support and be part of delivering the ambitions for Community Mental Health Transformation and the Community Mental Health Framework and other national directives to ensure our secondary care services are performing well, evolving, sustainable and meet presenting need within local communities.

There are five secondary care Psychology services across the Pennine Care footprint, one in each borough: Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR), Bury, Oldham, Tameside & Glossop and Stockport.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job include:

  • The Consultant Practitioner Psychologist will work closely with the secondary care psychological therapy service leads, senior managers, clinical leads for other care pathways and the wider system to provide high quality, safe and effective care for service users. This will include providing supervision and leadership to individuals within the secondary care pathway.
  • A key role for the post holder is to embed the principles of trauma informed care, supporting the developing understanding about such approaches across staff teams, our processes and care delivered.
  • The post holder will support and be part of delivering the ambitions for Community Mental Health Transformation and the Community Mental Health Framework for adults and older adults, and other national directives to ensure our secondary care services are performing well and are sustainable.
  • The post holder will support the adoption and embedding of new psychological practitioner roles.
  • The post holder will be required to further develop and lead the clinical delivery model across secondary care psychology services to ensure services transform, evolve and meet presenting need within local communities. It will be important that this offer is equitable across the footprint in our work to reduce health inequalities.
  • The post holder will provide expert psychological assessments, formulations and interventions and be skilled in a range of therapeutic modalities.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral / Masters' Degree or equivalent experience/qualification, plus further specialist training research or study, conferring advanced theoretical and practical knowledge within a specialist field of psychological therapy and across a number of areas (such as clinical, research and development, personnel finance)
  • Additional further training and qualifications in a range of therapeutic models (e.g. CBT, CAT, psycho-analytic therapies) and in the use of specific psychometric and/or neuro-psychological assessment tools.
  • Membership of the HCPC

Desirable

  • Additional Accreditation / membership of an appropriate psychological therapy professional body.

Experience

Essential

  • Undergraduate and post graduate research experience.
  • Substantial post-qualification experience as a psychological therapist within the NHS
  • Substantial experience working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and full range of settings
  • Experience working within / and or managing multi-disciplinary services
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for the application of multi-theoretical psychological assessment and intervention and evaluation with a range of common, acute and complex mental health needs
  • Extensive Professional / NHS management experience
  • Contribute to the Strategic planning, development and commissioning of psychological services within and across organisations.
