The Divisional Manager role offers a unique opportunity to provide managerial leadership to several cross organisational pathways, including the North Central and North-East London head and neck cancer and uro-oncology services. The post-holder will also hold operational responsibility for the Elective Orthopaedic Centre (in the Grafton Way Building), the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health and UCH @ Westmoreland Street - the site for urological and thoracic surgical services.
We are looking for an experienced leader to work as part of our dynamic team who is committed to the ongoing development of a high-performing and established senior leadership team. Working in collaboration with a diverse multi-disciplinary team to develop a sustainable program of innovation and foster an environment and culture conducive to high impact research and operational excellence will be essential.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to a Medical Director, the Divisional Manager is jointly responsible and accountable with the Divisional Clinical Director for the vision, team, quality, safety and delivery of services, within budget (Income & Expenditure) for an agreed level of activity at an expected level of service and clinical quality. Both the Divisional Manager and Divisional Clinical Director are expected to ensure all of the activities undertaken within the Division are subject to best practice governance arrangements.
The Divisional Manager will provide leadership and direction for the division, ensuring that this supports the fulfilment of the Trust's vision statement, for top quality patient care, excellent education and world class research.
The Divisional Manager will work in partnership with the Divisional Clinical Director to ensure the full engagement of all staff in the division in the delivery of the division's strategy.
The Divisional Manager will have responsibility for the operational management of the division, ensuring the effective implementation of both national and local strategies and the achievement of service objectives within available resources.

- Higher professional or management degree (master's level) or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience.

Experience/Skills

- Significant experience working on both strategic and operational matters at a senior management level, in a large complex organisation preferably within the NHS.
- NHS/public sector/healthcare sector experience and knowledge.
- Demonstrable experience of effective budgetary management and control, including achieving annual targets on a regular basis.
- Proven success in business planning and in the development and effective implementation of complex strategic plans.
- Experience of leadership of complex operational change management while also developing and maintaining high standards of quality.
