We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity in the Barnet Crisis Resolution Home Treatment team. We are looking for an enthusiastic newly qualified or experienced Clinical / Counselling Psychologist who is keen to make a valuable impact to a fast changing diverse and complex client group within Barnet Urgent care. The Urgent Care psychology team were nominated finalists in the 'innovation in services' category for the Barnet Enfield & Haringey (BEH) Excellence awards in 2021.

We would be particularly interested in hearing rom applicants who have experience of working in Acute care settings who have a proven commitment to improving the quality of care provided to our service users. We also encourage applicants who may not have direct urgent care experience but express an interest to use their transferrable skills to venture into working within the urgent care pathway.
**We also welcome applications from newly qualified band 7 psychologists with a view to achieve career progression to band 8a within 12 months as part of a preceptorship if appointed. **

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Post graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK) as approved by the HCPC , including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Professionally registered as a Practitioner psychologist with the Health Professions Council. (UK approved courses only)
Desirable
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
- Eligibility for Chartered Psychologist status.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Experience, including in the NHS, of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community/teams, primary care and in patient and day settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
Desirable
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team setting.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Essential
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
Desirable
- High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
