Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a 12-month secondment/10 month fixed term contract, working in the Cashier's Office at Wrightington Hospital.

This is a 20-hour post Monday - Friday 9.00am - 1.00pm.

We are seeking a reliable Cashier/Admin Assistant to work alone in the Cashier's Office at Wrightington, you will be responsible for the Cashier and General Office service at Wrightington.

This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis for 10 months, as it has been funded on a non-recurrent basis. Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient administrative and cashier service to patients and staff. Cashier duties include receiving and receipting monies accurately, including car park income, catering income, cash and cheques from private patients, reconciling the banking on a fortnightly basis. Issuing and reconciling petty cash, issuing of patients travel in line with the Healthcare Travel Cost system.

Job responsibilities

Cashier duties resulting in receiving and receipting monies accurately, including car park income, catering income, cash and cheques from private patients

Reconciling the banking fortnightly

Responsible for petty cash imprest, issuing of petty cash to staff, patients and volunteers, receipting on Oracle, reimbursing through cash provider

Opening and receipting of cheques from general mail system

Maintain all records and documentation in line with Trust Policy

Use and operate the Healthcare Travel cost system, checking eligibility, issuing of Patient travel expenses and inputting information on to a database in line with Standing Financial Instructions.

The holding and returning of patients property and dealing sympathetically with bereaved relatives in line with the Trusts Policies and Procedures.

Always display a professional attitude when dealing the general public and colleagues alike whilst using effective communication skills

Respond to internal and external calls, taking messages with appropriate action.

General photocopying and scanning of documents

Ordering of consumables and reporting faults.

Ordering and issuing security tags, receipt books, patients property books as controlled items

Liaise with colleagues, Finance Dept and users of service as directed by Manager.

Establish and maintain an effective and efficient filing system Receiving and receipting of donations in line with Trust Policy and Procedures. Typing and recording of donation letters to donor or Next of Kin

Recording of 1st class mail from other departments
