Job summary
The Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department have an exciting role within the team of Medical Equipment Attendants that operate and run the Equipment Pool service. This post is based across the St Jamess/LGI Hospital sites. The Equipment Pool provide a range of services directly to clinical areas across the hospital sites; a library of commonly used items of medical equipment, a medical gas cylinder delivery and management service, provision of pharmaceutical and consumable items for the resuscitation trolleys and support for the Trust-wide domiciliary nebuliser service.

Main duties of the job
Working within a team of 16 staff, covering shifts that ensure a 24 hour service is maintained across 7 days. You will be jointly responsible for the equipment management and servicing activities associated with the Equipment Pool. You will be responsible for the safe storage, cleaning, checking and distribution of a range of expensive medical equipment; you will also be responsible for the safe management of medical gas cylinders, including ordering, stores management and delivery to the end users. The department operates within a quality management system registered to ISO9001:2015.
About us
The Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Service is responsible for the management of an extensive range of medical equipment and related services throughout the Trust, including patient monitoring and life support equipment, surgical systems, anaesthetic equipment, infusion devices and haemodialysis systems. The clinical engineering service in the Trust is delivered by teams of technical officers. The incumbent is a member of the Equipment Pool that provides an equipment library service, a medical gas management service, a domiciliary nebuliser service to support patients in the community and direct support for resuscitation services. The post holder will be expected to work closely and effectively with other technical staff and the clinical staff in the specialist clinical areas for which the Clinical Engineering teams are responsible, to ensure delivery of a high quality service.
