Job summary
At Leeds Teaching Hospitals, we have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated registered Pharmacy Technician Higher Level, who has experience in either a hospital or community pharmacy setting, to join our collaborative, forward thinking and highly regarded pharmacy team working within clinical services.
This is an excellent opportunity to start a career in hospital pharmacy and to play an important role in being part of a team working at ward level to deliver an exceptional medicines optimisation service.
By taking a patient first approach and through compassion and commitment you will focus on helping patients to optimise medicines use by involving them in making decisions about their medicines. You will collaborate with other teams, communicating effectively to ensure a safe, seamless integrated transfer of care for our patients.
There will be an opportunity to be involved with and potentially lead improvement work to provide the best care for our patients.
We will support your development and provide you with the skills and knowledge to meet your GPhC CPD revalidation requirements. We will support you to progress within the role and develop your knowledge, skills, competencies and leadership skills.
Please be aware that we invite applications from second year Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians that are due to qualify in the next six months.
Main duties of the job
Below is a list of duties to be performed by the successful applicant. Please note this is not an exhaustive list;
- To proactively counsel patients on new medications and update them regarding any changes to treatment regimes
- To accurately obtain drug histories from a variety of patients and/or their carers
- To provide a ward based medicines optimisation service
- To support our late night, weekend and bank holiday service.
- To assist and deliver training for rotational and new members of staff
- To assist in the assembly and accuracy checking of prescribed items
- There may opportunities to line manager staff members
