Main duties of the job

This role provides the following services to the Trust: -

The successful post holder will be the line manager for the 2x Supervisors and 17x Technicians to achieve the appropriate agreed outcomes and conform to all agreed practices, policies and procedures. They will deputise for the Senior Decontamination Manager in their absence, in any aspect of their portfolio. They will support the Clinical Service Units in the implementation of the strategic objectives to ensure that the service delivers the required completed outcomes across the Trust.

Effective management of the decontamination hubs to ensure that the operational delivery plan is achieved on time, to the required local and national standards relating to Health Technical Memorandum 01-06: Decontamination of flexible endoscopes.

To oversee the decontamination of re-usable medical devices within the reprocessing units and ensure that efficient and effective processes are developed and followed in line with the Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy: (JAG) accreditation and Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.

They will provide vital contribution in supporting the overarching departmental strategy, including sustaining effective financial performance.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Extensive experience functioning at a senior managerial level in a healthcare and management of facilities related services
  • City & Guilds HTM 01-06 User certificate
  • Active membership of a relevant NHS association or equivalent
  • To have completed recent appropriate management/ Patient Environment courses and have formal management training

Desirable

  • High level Health & Safety qualification i.e. NEBOSH

Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of Mandatory and Statutory Regulations relating to Decontamination Services
  • To have extensive experience and knowledge of the full range of Patient Environment operational management experience within different locations.
  • To have current experience and a proven track record in managing operational teams that impact Patient Safety
  • To have the skills to support the implementation of any/all parts of the decontamination strategy and development plans.
  • To have knowledge and experience of a range of managerial disciplines, including staff management, finance, commissioning, risk management, performance management, service development and change manag
