Job summary

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic clinician who enjoys working with children in an integrated multidisciplinary team. The applicant should have completed varied post graduate clinical rotations and want to develop their clinical skills further within the specialist area of Paediatrics. You will gain experience in specialist areas including acute respiratory, neurology, neurosurgery, neuromuscular, neonatology, oncology, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal, cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, surgery and hepatology.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the Childrens physiotherapy team providing clinical care and helping to develop the physiotherapy service across the Childrens Hospital. Children are managed on the wards, intensive care units, neonatal units, specialist clinics, in the out patient department and in the community. They will also support the out of hours service.

The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team including medical staff, nursing staff, occupational therapists, speech therapists, play therapists, dieticians and psychologists. They will also be encouraged to liaise with other agencies that support children and their families.

About us

The childrens physiotherapy team is a team of approximately 40 physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work across Leeds Childrens Hospital. They have a wide scope of experience and enjoy developing and teaching new members of the team

  • Previous experience working within Paediatrics

  • Professional, hard working and flexible with a positive attitude
  • Caring and compassionate Able to prioritise and organise and delegate as necessary own workload
  • Able to function well within team setting
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to cope working in a stressful environment including the ability to impart information, on a daily basis regarding poor prognosis for rehabilitation.
  • Able to deal with emotional or aggressive patients and carers.

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Health Professions Council Registration

  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

  • Able to supervise other staff e.g. assistants
  • Good presentation skills

  • Moving and handling patients and equipment is a requirement of this post
