We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist with an interest in Pregnancy related MSK conditions, to work in our MSK Outpatient Team. Clinically you will have the opportunity to deliver care to both antenatal and post natal patients, working closely with the MDT and clinical specialists to achieve high quality care for this patient group.

As part of a friendly and supportive team, you will benefit from a wide range of learning opportunities to help advance your musculoskeletal skills. Close links with the MDT provides the opportunity to be involved with research and service development. You will be involved in inspiring the next generation through delivery of education and supervision to less experienced members of the team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate significant post graduate experience and clinical knowledge of the assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, in particular pregnancy related conditions. They will be required to demonstrate an ability to work both as an autonomous practitioner, and also as part of the multidisciplinary team.

This post is predominantly based at St James University Hospital but the post holder would be expected to work flexibly as required by service need. You will be expected to be responsible for your own clinical caseload including patients with complex needs; delivering high quality assessments, virtually or face-to-face, for patients referred from both hospital consultants and through the staff self referral system.

You must have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate not only patients but staff. You must be organised, flexible and able to empower others.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals delivers Obstetric and Midwifery care to deliver more than 8,500 babies per year. There has been significant investment into maternity services at Leeds over the past year with additional midwives being recruitment, improvements to equipment and facilities as well as the development of the Perinatal Pelvic Health Service. The Pelvic Health MSK Outpatient service at Leeds Teaching Hospital receives 1,500 referrals a year and works closely with the Perinatal Pelvic Health team promoting improved short term and long term outcomes for all our patients.

JOB PURPOSE

2.1 To perform the advanced physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients within this specialist field who may have complex physical and psychological conditions and/or chronic presentation. 9.1.2 To undertake the comprehensive assessment and treatment of patients including those with diverse / complex / multi pathological presentation. This will necessitate the use of advanced investigative and analytical skills to formulate an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan from a range of options.

9.1.3 Using advanced investigative and analytical skills to formulate individualised management and treatment plans including the development of complex discharge plans.

9.1.4 To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients within this specialist field and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

9.1.5 To demonstrate dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory skills in the assessment and manual treatment of patients.
