Job summary
We have the opportunity to appoint 1 x substantive & 2 x Development secondment Sister/Charge Nurse.
J81 Bexley ICU is a 16 bedded Critical Care unit which provides care for multi-specialty surgical patients, including Upper GI, Colo-rectal, gynaecology, hepato-biliary, urology and pancreatic and thoracic. The team also care for patients from oncology and haematology. The team is an enthusiastic, multicultural team, passionate about delivering high quality patient cantered care. The Bexley ICU team will provide opportunities and support regarding education and integration into the team and will provide this by working within the Leeds Way values.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to work clinically within the multi-disciplinary team, maintain high standards of practice while supporting staff on a shift-by-shift basis and provide clinical leadership in decision making.
Due to the unique specialist care that is required for effective and safe patient care, the post holder must be able to respond robustly and timely to the ever-increasing demands and challenges that our critical care units (and wider CSU teams) bring. This includes supporting and mentoring our newer and more junior team members who may not always have experience in critical care.

Adult Critical Care consists of 5 critical care units, 2 at St James Hospital (General Critical Care and Surgical-Oncology Critical Care), and 3 units at Leeds General Infirmary (Cardiac Critical Care, General Critical Care and Neurosurgical Critical Care).
