Cardiac Electrophysiology Research Fellow

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

The Research Fellow is attached to the EP consultants and will work as a team with the SpRs and the rest of the EP team. You will be expected to work towards a higher degree and will be formally supervised by Dr John Silberbauer and Dr Ian Mann. Duties will be mainly based around catheter laboratory sessions - with a special interest in complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, including supporting current electrophysiology research projects and initiating new ones. There are weekly electrophysiology meetings and attendance/management of these will be required.

This particular post would be ideally suited to a post CCT fellow. They should be able to perform simple Electrophysiology procedures independently and have significant experience in complex Electrophysiological procedures. From this base we aim for the fellow to become confident with all complex procedures, including epicardial atrial and ventricular ablations. Exposure will also be given to new and emerging ablation technologies. Whilst not a primary aim, the fellow will be encouraged and supported to lead on audit, governance and research projects.

There will be no on call commitment with this job.

Main duties of the job

This is a full-time post, with no on call commitment. There will be, on average, 1 research clinic per week. The post will predominantly involve performing Electrophysiology procedures and supporting the Electrophysiology Research. The applicant is expected to be at an independent level with complex catheter ablation procedures.

We are a high-volume centre, performing both simple and complex ablation procedures, with an increasing Research program in Electrophysiology.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Electrophysiology MDT, attending meetings weekly.
