The post holder will be eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register in Forensic Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry.
The post holder will provide Consultant leadership for the Community Forensic Outreach Service with 4PAs DCC and HMP Isis 3.5PAs DCC.
In addition, the post holder would be expected to contribute to an aspect of quality assurance. 2.5 SPAs will be allocated in the job plan for undertaking activities that support the professional role such as teaching, training, clinical management, clinical governance, service development, research, and other relevant activities
Main duties of the job
Community Forensic Outreach Service, 6 Pas
The forensic Community services is a multi-disciplinary community team, providing a recovery focused pathway, for forensic patients leaving secure services. The team is able to provide bespoke support for patients to meet their individual needs, using two models of support, with a standard community team approach, and a support plus approach, which is funded by the South London Partnership. The team works closely with forensic secure inpatient services, community hostel providers and locality mental health teams, to ensure that there is a measured and supportive pathway, managing risk and promoting recovery and social inclusion. The team also provide increase clinical input into Tilt Hostel (24 hour male forensic recovery hostel) and Mariposa (24 hour female forensic recovery hostel).
HMP Isis, 4 PAs
This is a relatively new Category C establishment, accommodating about 600 sentenced men aged between 18 and 30. It has a segregation unit, but no in-patient beds. The service will use the CHAT (Comprehensive Health Assessment Tool) at reception, which mandates a multidisciplinary and multiagency response within short timeframes to any identified concerns. The postholder will work with colleagues to assess and manage a range of needs, including developmental disorders and ADHD. Treatment decisions by the postholder will be implemented by the General Practitioner service and colleagues in Primary Health Care.
