Job summary

We are looking to recruit very experienced and highly motivated and organised Highly Specialist Child Clinical Psychologists to oversee the provision of clinical psychology assessments and interventions within the Core CAMHS team they are assigned to.

Each Highly Specialist Child Clinical Psychologist appointed will offer clinical psychology assessment and interventions to our Boston CORE team, and they will need to have extensive experience of working in a CAMHS setting and will need to evidence strong leadership skills and innovative practice. They will be supporting all CAMHS staff to have access to clinical psychology consultation and joint work on cases and they will ensure all interventions and consultations offered are evaluated and that Routine Outcome Measures are used as standard by staff. The post holder will ensure that feedback from service users is incorporated into service maintenance and development.

Main duties of the job

LPFT CAMHS is a specialist multi-disciplinary service which offers assessment and therapeutic interventions to children and young people 0-18 years, who present with complex mental health problems as well as children and young people who have experienced developmental trauma and who present with attachment related difficulties.We also work with Children in Care and have a dedicated Complex Needs Service (CNS) who provide input to the LA Children's homes. As the successful applicant you will have links to specialist teams within CYP services (i.e. CAMHS Crisis, Eating Disorders, CNS and Learning Disability). You will be involved within assessment and formulation clinics and in providing consultation, supervision, and training to staff within and outside of the service as well as service development and research opportunities.

To develop and provide a range of highly specialist clinical psychology assessments and interventions/intervention packages for children and young people and their carers and families referred to the LPFT core CAMHS. Specific areas of expertise to include working with children and young people with complex needs; experience of providing highly specialist developmental assessments, including specialist cognitive assessments and life skills and functioning assessments, to help more fully understand the underlying learning difficulties which may be impacting on a child / young persons presentation at home and at school; providing group interventions to children, young people and their carers.

Expected to consider and cover the needs of Children in Care (CiC). This will include working with the CYP Complex Need Service Clinical psychologists to support new CiC Mental Health link workers to offer excellent in reach mental health support to Lincolnshire County Councils Childrens Homes. This will involve being available to offer joint training and supervision and consultation sessions to the Childrens Homes as appropriate

To lead on overseeing the attachment pathway within CAMHS, offering highly specialist clinical psychology assessments and interventions as appropriate and overseeing agreed group and individual interventions on this pathway.

Experience in and ability to provide at least three of the following highly specialist therapeutic interventions:-

Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

The use of a systemic approach with families

Solution focused interventions

Attachment therapy

The use of creative art therapies in individual and family work

Interventions for post traumatic stress

Relaxation and visualisation techniques

To devise and facilitate therapeutic and educational groups as part of the treatment approach

To exercise full responsibility for communicating on a regular basis with the referral agent and other services and individuals involved with the service user, taking into account guidance on client confidentiality.

To provide highly specialist clinical psychology expertise, knowledge, advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals working both within and outside the Health Trust, contributing directly to the formulation of an understanding of a childs / young persons presenting difficulties and the development of an evidence based intervention plan.

To contribute to the decision making process as regards treatment options for individuals and their families where appropriate.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management

Policy and service development.

To provide and assist with the further development of clinical psychology input to LPFT Core CAMHS, attending Core CAMHS team meetings, Service line meetings and meetings for Child Psychological Therapies staff. To propose policy and service changes and developments as appropriate.

Responsible for implementing policies and procedures as set out by the LPFT CAMHS and the Health Trust.

Human Resources

To provide clinical and professional supervision to unqualified and qualified psychologists and therapists working within the Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trusts CAMHS.
