Trauma Nurse Coordinator

Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Trauma Nurse Coordinator to join our Urgent and Emergency Care Division at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. This is a pivotal role within our trauma service, providing expert clinical leadership, coordination, and support to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care across the trauma pathway.

You will act as a specialist point of contact for patients, families, and healthcare professionals, facilitating timely discharge, rehabilitation planning, and service improvement through audit, education, and research.

Main duties of the job

  • Coordinate trauma care pathways, ensuring safe and effective patient journeys.
  • Act as a lead specialist, providing expert advice and education to staff and patients.
  • Support trauma governance, including audit, adverse incident management, and TARN data oversight.
  • Lead and participate in service development, policy creation, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Mentor and train staff, contributing to the development of trauma competencies across the Trust.
  • Represent DBTH at regional trauma network meetings and contribute to national initiatives.

  • Substantial relevant post graduate clinical experience within Major Trauma, Orthopaedics, ED and complex injury cases
  • Relevant post registration course e.g. Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Orthopaedic Nursing
  • Relevant trauma training Level 2 course i.e. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Teaching/mentoring course
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the Department, Trust and Network
