Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Management Accountant to join the Management Accounts Team, part of the DBTH Finance Department.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of monthly Management Accounts information to internal stakeholders and providing a high quality Management Accounts service to the Trust.

The role will be an integral part of the Management Accounts Team providing a reliable and responsive Management Accounts service to ensure the provision of high quality financial advice and information to a variety of staff within the Trust, and at different levels.

In return, you will be an important part of a committed and high performing finance team, gaining valuable experience in an ever changing and challenging acute NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing accruals & prepayments with clear and concise working papers to feed the monthly reporting process.
  • Preparation of monthly financial projections.
  • Provision of supplementary information to focus attention upon areas where stricter monitoring is required
  • To participate in the provision of budget holder training

  • Accounting related degree/AAT starter/part qualified or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Good level of general education. GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in management accounting work.
  • IT literate

Desirable

  • Working experience in an Acute NHS Trust.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle computerised accounting system

Personal Attributes & Skills

Essential

  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing. This includes staff in other departments, such as budget holders, as well as colleagues within the department.
  • Needs to be dynamic and, in addition to providing financial support to the directorates, needs to be able to participate in the discussion of ideas and plans.
  • Competent IT skills including Excel and Word and General Ledger accounting systems
  • Strong spreadsheet skills
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines with supervision
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
