Job summary
Consultant urologist full time post for 6 months funded by the Cancer Alliance to enhance cancer care (part time work for a longer period will be considered).
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a progressive and friendly department for 6 months with a focus on enhancing our cancer services. We are ideally looking for a consultant who can deliver cancer care in clinic, by performing outpatient procedures (such as LA precision point biopsy and TULA) and in theatre. The successful candidate will attend the urology cancer MDT and help develop our cancer pathways. The successful candidate will work closely with and support the development of our cancer specialist nursing team.
Salisbury urology department has 7 consultant urologists, 3 of which subspecialise in cancer care. We have 4 middle grade doctors, 3 foundation year doctors, 9 specialist urology nurses and 3 HCAs. We have our own outpatient department in which we perform diagnostics (cystoscopy, ultrasound, urodynamics) as well as procedures such as precision point biopsy, TULA and flexi Botox.
Main duties of the job
The post is full time (10PA) funded for 6 months but part time working for a longer time period will be considered. The successful candidate will contribute to a 1 in 8 on call rota. The job plan will include 1.5 SPA, 1.3 on call PA, 6.2 PA direct clinical care and 1PA direct clinical care admin. An example job plan is below but we can be flexible.
