Northampton General Hospital

Specialty Doctor – Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

The closing date is 25 March 2026

Job summary

University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Group Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Department seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and motivated SAS grade clinician with demonstrable experience in Oral Surgery and a defined interest in advanced prosthodontics. This post offers the opportunity to join a well-established, forward-looking service delivering comprehensive care within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work within a cohesive OMFS team comprising five Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeons, three Consultant Orthodontists and two experienced SAS grade Oral Surgeons at NGH. The department is further supported by two Maxillofacial Registrar Trainees, eight Dental Core Trainees, and a visiting Consultant in Restorative Dentistry. There is a clear strategic commitment to expanding the restorative and implant service for patients with complex rehabilitative needs. The service benefits from an on site Maxillofacial Laboratory staffed by two experienced Maxillofacial Technologists, providing a full range of laboratory services, including 3D printing and patient specific implants. Comprehensive imaging facilities are available on site, including a modern CBCT scanner. With the exception of cleft lip and palate and craniofacial surgery, the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is delivered locally. A comprehensive Orthodontic service is provided at both sites, with close cross site collaboration to deliver an established orthognathic service in which Oral Surgery plays a central role.
