Job summary

We are delighted to invite applications for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner Supervision Lead post in Paediatrics and Emergency Care at The Royal London Hospital.

The successful candidate will join a friendly, highly motivated, consultant-led team delivering high quality urgent and emergency care to East London. The department receives a full range of emergencies from the local area in addition to being a major trauma centre for North East London and Essex and a provider for patients who require tertiary input, with a total of 45,000 patients <18 years old seen each year.

We hope that those appointed will benefit from the unique opportunities that the Royal London brings in terms of exposure to the management of major trauma, procedural skills, assessment and management of CYP with simple and complex issues. There is also scope for development of leadership and management skills and education within the ACP programme and wider department. The successful post holder will supervise and help shape the future of the ACP programme within the Paediatric Emergency Department and beyond.

The post is open to RCEM credentialled ACP level paediatric practitioners who will be based in the emergency department working on a full shift rota. Clinical duties are supported by 24/7 consultant presence, senior training registrars and a team of junior doctors.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to lead, influence and deliver an outstanding Advanced Clinical Practice service across the department, by ensuring that there is provision of high-quality development and supervision to the qualified ACPs across the relevant areas.

Focusing on:

1. Support the implementation of the Barts Health ACP strategy and policy in relation to supervision and training.2. Enabling peer support and supervision for existing ACPS.3. Ensuring that trainees are supported throughout their training programme with high quality supervision.4. Ensuring that staff follow an accredited advanced practice programme with a partner university.5. Recognising and supporting the registered health and care practitioners who demonstrate the capabilities set out in the advancing practice or consultant practitioner framework and in the national education standards for advancing practice.6. Ensuring good supervison of exisitng ACPs in allied areas to enhance clinical skills and flow.
