Job summary
Principal Clinical Dosimetrist
To provide an efficient, high quality patient dosimetry service for Radiotherapy. Acting as one of the lead specialists for high level treatment planning: producing (and checking) complex treatment plans across the full range of techniques. As a senior member of the Radiotherapy Physics Section, train dosimetrists and physicists in advanced dosimetry techniques. Provide advice to the Clinical Oncologists, Radiographers and Physicists on highly complex dosimetric treatment plans, including intensity modulated treatments, and stereotactic treatments. Participate in the teaching, training, and development work of the Section. To be part of the clinical implementation team/project work for new techniques and developments and attend site specific MDTs. The post holder will deputise for the Lead Dosimetrist when required.
All duties are in support of the radiotherapy physics provision within the Trust. The post holder has a responsibility to report all abnormal or unusual results, or measurements lying outside tolerance limits, to the Head of Section or deputy.

Main duties of the job
Provide high quality treatment plans for all techniques including VMAT, SABR, SRS and Electron planning.
Plan checking
Evaluation of patient isodose plans
Liasing with all MDTs
Managing the day to day running of the planning workload
Delegating and mentoring junior dosimetrist
Ensure all processes are completed within agreed time frames
Participitate in the Department Quality management system
Participitate in Clinical Audit
Training of all staff groups
Develop treatment planning techniques
