Barts Health NHS Trust is offering an exceptional Senior Neurotrauma Fellowship within our world-leading Neurotrauma team -- the first supra-specialist consultant-delivered neurotrauma service in the UK. Based at The Royal London Hospital, one of Europe's busiest Major Trauma Centres, this post offers unparalleled experience in the neurosurgical management of traumatic brain injury and related conditions.

You will join a high-performing team caring for around 250 complex head injury patients each year, working alongside four dedicated Neurotrauma Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and an extensive multidisciplinary network spanning ED, ITU, Neuroradiology, Maxillofacial Surgery, ENT, and Rehabilitation Services.

Main duties of the job

This fellowship offers a unique training opportunity in the neurosurgical management of traumatic brain injury as well as opportunities for head injury research and service development.

The Royal London is one of the busiest Major Trauma Centres in Europe and our supra-specialist Neurotrauma team cares for approximately 250 complex head injuries every year.

The Neurotrauma Fellow is a key member of the Neurotrauma team (the first in the UK) and will be supported by four dedicated Consultant Neurosurgeons on a 1 in 4 weekly rota and by clinical nurse specialists.

The neuro-trauma fellow will work closely with the Neurotrauma consultants, the CNSs, ITU, ED, Neuroradiology and rehabilitation services. They will co-ordinate weekly Head Injury MDT meetings, provide support for CNS-led virtual follow up clinics and contribute to MDT head injury clinics. They will be expected to undertake a leadership role in clinical governance and service development, and they will be supported to undertake clinical research in traumatic brain injury.

The Neurotrauma Fellow will have a wealth of opportunity to train in complex craniofacial reconstruction, open and endoscopic skull base repair and management of complex post-traumatic hydrocephalus, as well as a full range of emergency neurosurgical operations for traumatic brain injury.
