Job summary

The Cardiovascular CAG is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Barts Heart Centre's Administrative Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will be responsible for assisting the Cath Lab Schedulers for the St Bartholomew's site.

The post holder will also be required to act on performance metrics and ensure that the relevant work is undertaken to correct each metric.

The post holder will be required to assist in the running of the scheduling team and the improvement of services to the admin processes to meet the demand of the service.

They are required to make improvements to the service with the guidance of the Team leaders and the schedulers for each area and the clinical teams to improve efficiency and the demand of the service.

To ensure that service requirements are meet and national targets are adhered to.

To communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary range of stakeholders ranging from patients to clinicians, both internal and externally.

To be able to process large volumes of referrals efficiently and effectively.

Main duties of the job

Our brand new state of the art cardiovascular centre - Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew's Hospital will opened in early 2015. The new service allows us to bring together our existing unique experience and research activity. We will be able to increase our understanding of and ability to address the root causes of cardiovascular diseases by growing the number of patients who get the chance to take part in clinical trials and research.

Job responsibilities

  • Assist in the printing off and opening of all new referrals into the unit, date stamping them all with the a received date
  • To deal professionally with enquiries in line with the Lab booking Centre standard operating procedures.
  • To deal effectively with clinicians when necessary
  • To ensure all new patients are registered onto the trust system
  • Ensure that any patient demographic changes are made on CRS or its replacement.
  • Ensure that all referrals are scanned onto the Trusts system prior to the appointments, so that they are visible at pre-assessment
  • To call all patients ensuring both a pre-assessment and an admission date has been agreed with the patient
  • To ensure that the dates are put onto the Trust system for all areas to access
  • To assist with the sending out of patients appointments
  • Any other duties that are given by the Team scheduler and Team Leader to make the flow of the patients pathway as smooth as possible
