Audiologist - Band 5

Fixed Term Contract - 12 months, Maternity Cover

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 5 Audiologist to join our friendly and supportive team. This fixed-term role offers the chance to undertake specialist training within the department, along with access to funded CPD to support your ongoing professional development. As a key member of our Audiology service, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, comprehensive care to patients while working within a collaborative and experienced team.

We are looking for an individual with good communication skills and excellent patient care attitude. You will have a BSc in Audiology or equivalent qualifications, and be registered, with the ACHS or HCPC.

Main duties of the job

The Audiologist will work autonomously with Adults within the Audiology Service. They will perform a range of diagnostic tests and provide effective rehabilitation and on-going maintenance. The post holder will alsobe required to provide an Adult Audiology service at satellite clinics and in patient's homes as required.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Work as an independent practitioner without supervision, following departmental guidelines, providing routine clinical services directly to patients.

2. Initial management of more complex patients if they present in routine / inappropriate clinics, such as delivering immediate care if possible and referring on to the appropriate clinic.

3. Assisting in complex clinics (e.g. paediatric assessment, vestibular assessment) which may include carrying out specific tests or procedures, documenting findings, completing clinical reports and communicating with patients / their families regarding findings and management.

4. Maintain a good level of expertise in routine testing and rehabilitation methods, to include technical expertise in a range of techniques and procedures.

5. Act as appoint of contact for more junior members of the team (e.g. Assistant and Associate Audiologists) to discuss cases to ensure all patients receive an equitable service and high quality care.

6. Transporting expensive equipment, stock (to include hearing aids and consumables) to outstations.
