Job summary

The Charge nurse will be expected to take responsibility for supporting that care team, working within governance processes to support the implementation of individualised and responsive care. This is a really exciting opportunity to be able to demonstrate leadership amongst a small group of individuals.

There will be opportunities for people who want to focus on the clinical aspects of the role as well as those thinking about the management side of things. We will look to support you to develop your skills in a variety of ways, be that through our existing band 6 development programme, leadership courses, mentorship as well as more formal qualification.

Main duties of the job

o The post holder will work supportively and collaboratively with the Clinical Team Leader in ensuring the effective management of the ward in all respects, environmental, financial and clinical insofar as this relates to nursing practice.o The post holder will undertake the planning and delivery of direct patient care with appropriate supervision, ensuring continuity of practice and working within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environment.o The post holder will be expected to provide a clinical lead to staff in various areas of practice, adhering to the philosophy and clinical skills base of the ward.o The post holder will monitor nursing practice on a day to day basis and ensure that nursing compliments the practice of other professionalso The post holder will work towards implementing reviews and changes in practice at the discretion of the Clinical Team Leadero The post holder will be required to work shifts across a 24-hour period in order to meet the needs of the service.
