We are looking to recruit an experienced Highly Specialist Therapy Clinician to lead the Salford Wheelchair Service.If you are a motivated, flexible and enthusiastic clinician with experience in wheelchair and special seating services we can offer you the opportunity to join an established and integrated service which is part of the Community O.T Wheelchair and Equipment service.You must hold a degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy/Clinical Sciences and have HCPC registration. Clinical experience in wheelchair services is essentialThe ability to work as part of a multi agency team, supervision of staff and students, and working in the community environment are essential requirements of the post.
Main duties of the job
Within this Highly Specialist role, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of highly skilled Wheelchair Therapists and Wheelchair Technicians, working closely with the wider Therapy teams including the newly developing Moving and Handling Service based in the community at Burrows House.You will have extensive experience of working with people with complex posture and mobility needs and be able provide support to a team of highly skilled therapists who perform specialist duty and wheelchair assessments and provide wheelchair equipment provision. You will monitor a high volume of complex referrals and ensure people are being advised where there needs will be met. Using your clinical skills, you will have responsibility for coordinating and running the specialist wheelchair clinic as well as taking on more complex referrals.As a Band 7 you will receive support from your peers and from the Team Manager and Band 8 Operational & Professional Therapy Lead. You will be expected to have responsibility for managing NCA initiatives and provide supervision to staff.You will be working in a busy and pro-active environment where evidence-based practice is embedded and joint working, service development and CPD is encouraged. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced band 6 looking to progress in their career.You will also be expected to support the Operational and Professional Lead with clinical governance action plans and service development/implementation.
