Job summary

Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN) is a high performing, busy tertiary neurosciences centre operating from the Salford Royal hospital site, as part of Salford Care Organisation. The Division includes some of the country's largest neurosurgical, spinal, neurology and stroke services amongst others, delivered by a team of c.1200 clinical and non-clinical staff.

We are looking for a driven and experienced senior operational leader to join the Divisional Director of Nursing and Chair of Division to oversee all elements of service delivery across the division. This includes ensuring that the services continue to deliver timely access to high quality and safe care for the population of Greater Manchester and beyond.

Applicants will have substantial senior management experience including experience of general management of multiple complex services. A proven track record of delivery in a challenging environment will be essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder, along with the Chair of Division and the Divisional Director of Nursing, will provide:

  • effective leadership and have full managerial responsibility for the Division, developing a culture which ensures the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of patient/client care.
  • the triumvirate will be jointly and separately responsible for the delivery of the Division's operational and performance targets, the achievement of local and national standards, human resources, quality and governance targets and budgetary control.
  • The post holder along with the Chair of Division and Director of Nursing will work closely with the Care Organisation (CO) quartet and other Divisional teams to ensure optimum performance, service integration and contribute to the development of the Care Organisation's services within the Group and the local health economy.

  • Responsible for the effective governance arrangements for the division, to ensure the effective management and review of performance, and risk in line with the NCA Assurance Framework and Single Oversight Framework.
  • Represents the Care Organisation and the NCA in external forums as appropriate to the role.
  • Participates in the Director on-call rota for the site.
