Are you enthusiastic, compassionate, self-motivated and want to gain experience as a Health Care Support Worker in Paediatrics? If so, this is the post for you! We are looking for Health Care Support Workers to work on Buxton Ward and our Children's Day Ward.

Buxton and Children's Day Ward are busy wards looking after patients from all medical and surgical specialties. We also have a 6 bedded high dependency unit. Our HCSW's are really valuable members of our team in supporting the registered Nurses and providing the high standard of holistic Family-centred care we pride ourselves on.

Jenny Lind Children's Hospital also comprises of our Children's ED, Children's Assessment Unit, Children's Day ward, NICU and Outpatients. We like to offer successful candidates experience in all these areas during induction and probation, as we ask staff to redeploy to other areas when clinical need requires.

We will offer the successful applicant all relevant training and opportunities to develop skills relevant to Paediatrics as well as supporting them in completing study related to the college course.

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidates, you will work either on Buxton or Children's Day Ward.

Buxton is a 33 bedded ward, caring for children from all medical and surgical specialties as well as on our HDU unit.

The Children's Day ward where children come for day procedures and treatments including elective surgeries, chemotherapy, Allergy food challenges and much much more.

Day-to-day care for an Apprentice HCSW would be carrying out observations, cares for the babies on the ward as well as older children, supporting with feeding, washing and dressing patients as well as providing support to the wider family around the child.

We would offer all additional relevant training required to extend their knowledge and skills to care of our patients. We also offer all staff the opportunity to become a link for areas that they have particular interest in and give opportunities to gain experience and receive training in this area and disseminate learning to colleagues.

This opportunity would allow the successful candidate to develop skills and experience in caring for children attending hospital and provide the high standard family centred care we pride ourselves on.
