Job summary
IST Enablement Worker - Band 3 - Part Time - 22.5 Hours per week
This is a great opportunity for a band 3 enablement worker to join the Intensive Support Team (IST), a community team based in Hanley. There are 22.5 hours available over a seven-day working week and these are on a permanent basis, however, the Trust encourages flexible working. We provide time-limited specialist support, assessment, formulation and intervention for individuals experiencing a significant decline in their quality of life as a result of complex mental health needs and/or distressed behaviours that may result in placement/home breakdown and/or hospital admission.
As an enablement worker you will bring to the team excellent observational skills to inform assessments, be able to implement care plans based on positive behavioural approaches and model these to both the clients, families and their carers. You will work within a variety of different community settings, offering support, advice and direct care to build partnership working between services and work towards a shared goal for the service user. You will be required to work both within a team and also alone depending upon service user need.

Main duties of the job
To offer support with a defined caseload, consistent with high quality evidence-based practice within the Intensive Support Team. Supporting the provision of community-based service to individuals with complex needs who are experiencing an increase in personal difficulties, additionally providing support to enhance carers' skills when supporting people with a learning disability who challenge services.
The service is committed to the use of Person-Centred Planning approaches and affording adults with learning disabilities opportunities to maximize independence, citizenship, choice and control. The role will support the Intensive Support Team to improve the health and wellbeing of adults with learning disabilities by undertaking assigned tasks and roles, developing therapeutic relationships with services users and carers.
