An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in Surgical SDEC.
Surgical same day emergency care (SDEC) unit provides a specialised service for rapid assessment and treatment of a variety of surgical conditions.
The unit provides a dedicated space to access and commence treatment of acute surgical presentations from A&E, GP referrals and follow up patients who can be safely discharged after initial assessment and treatment.
The successful candidates will be expected to provide a high standard of care, have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively respond to changing situations.
We work within a multi-disciplinary team promoting independence and patient centred care, implementing realistic individualised goals to allow proactive discharge planning.

Main duties of the job
- Actively manage an effective caseload
- Maintain accurate and up to date clinical records in line with the trust/NMC standards of practice.
- To promote multi-disciplinary patient centred care and take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care primarily under the supervision of the senior nurse or ACP.
- In the absence of the senior members, take charge of the unit
- To undertake any other duties required by the line manager appropriate to grade and relevant to the post
- Cannulation, Venepuncture, catheterisation
