Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Psychiatrist for 6 months in Forensic Psychiatry to join Millbrook ward, a 16 bedded Medium Secure Male admission ward. The post holder will provide leadership and support the Millbrook ward MDT.
Applicants must be registered with a licence to practice with the GMC and have an approved clinician status with an experience of working in Forensic psychiatry. CCT in forensic psychiatry is desirable. All medical staff are employed by WLNT.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have clinical responsibility for 16 medium secure inpatients on the admission ward and will be responsible for the quality of care on Millbrook Ward.
Millbrook Ward is one of three medium secure wards based at Medway Lodge, part of Three Bridges Medium Secure Unit in Ealing. There are a further five medium secure wards located at Thames Lodge, within the same perimeter.
The candidate will have key managerial responsibility locally, providing clinical leadership to Millbrook Ward, through active engagement and participation in ward clinical governance activity. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate a commitment to service improvement both within their clinical environment and across the medium secure directorate. They will need to deliver care in accordance with the Clinical Model for Medium Secure and demonstrate a commitment to the trust values and key quality priorities for the service.
The post holder will be managed through the governance structures of West London Forensic Services, reporting to the Clinical/Medical Lead for Male Medium Secure.
While primarily responsible for delivering a quality clinical service, the Consultant Psychiatrist is also expected to be actively involved in the strategic development of the team and broader services, being involved with the Team Managers, Service Director and Senior Management in helping to steer the development of the service in line with the strategic direction of the organisation.

Millbrook Ward has a multidisciplinary team. The MDT consists of a Ward Manager, Full time Specialty doctor, Forensic Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist. The MDT has a weekly clinical team meeting, community meetings and reflective practice. Quality assurance and quality improvement activity takes place at the monthly ward Clinical Improvement Group (CIG).
The nursing establishment is 5-5-4 (day, evening and late shift) for a 16 bedded admission ward. The team is supported by the Physical Healthcare department which consists of a GP and a Specialist Nurse Practitioner.
