Job summary
Substantive Consultant Psychiatrist - with dual CCT in Adolescent Forensic psychiatry or single CCT / CESR in Forensic or Child and Adolescent psychiatry with experience of the other specialty.
Applications are invited from candidates with experience of Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry for a Consultant Forensic CAMHS Psychiatrist post in the North West London Community Forensic CAMHS Team, West London NHS Trust. Although it is preferred that applicants have Higher Training in both Adolescent and Forensic psychiatry, this is not essential if experience in forensic and CAMHS psychiatry can be demonstrated. Applicants must be registered with a licence to practice with the GMC. Inclusion on the Specialist Register or within six months of interview is a requirement. All applicants should have Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status or be able to apply.
Main duties of the job
The role
The vacancy has arisen as the result of the current post-holder due to commence maternity leave from early December 2023. The duration of this post will be for 12 months in first instance commencing from 1.12.2023.
The LDA service is a new addition to our SCFT and went live in spring 2023 with core MDT and clinical lead in post. This hub offers forensic community care under CPA to those with Intellectual Disability and / or Autism who have been discharged from any low, medium or high secure hospital. For this hub more than the other 3 geographical hubs, there is significant amount of in-reach work, to support the discharge planning of those from North West London in specialist secure hospitals around the country, attending and contributing to ward rounds, CPAs and CTRs. The consultation role around assessing and managing risk behaviours for those with Intellectual Disability and / or Autism to professionals working locally is also extremely important including offering individual consultations and attendance at specialist local dynamic support meetings.
There are currently 28-30 people with Intellectual Disability and / or Autism from North West London in secure hospitals. Average length of admission is 2-3 years. This number has remained relatively stable over the last 5 years.
