University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

Lung Cancer Screening Clinical Nurse Manager & Responsible Assessor

The closing date is 09 December 2025

Job summary

The Lung Cancer Screening Programme is designed to enable early detection of lung cancer, improving patient outcomes and saving lives. With approval from the National Screening Committee, the programme is set to be implemented nationwide by 2028/29.

This programme targets individuals aged 55-74 with a history of smoking who are registered with participating GP practices. Patients are assessed for lung cancer risk through telephone screening using an accredited risk assessment tool. Advanced systems are employed to identify high-risk individuals, who are then scheduled for low-dose CT scans, enabling early detection and better treatment options.

Each Lung Cancer Screening Programme has a robust clinical governance structure. As the programme's joint Responsible Assessor (RA), you will collaborate closely with the responsible clinicians & radiologists from the local trusts.

Secondment will be considered for internal candidates - If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
