This is an exciting opportunity to join our Pathology data team and help support our ongoing drive to deliver excellent patient care. As part of a small team of analysts within Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services you will have a real opportunity to influence the way the service makes use of data to understand and improve the service it delivers.

Main duties of the job
Working as part of Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Service's (CWPS) data team, you will work with the CWPS Information Manager, Discipline Managers, and Performance Managers to support the achievement of key objectives through the provision of activity, performance, and ad hoc information reports. You will be required to perform complex database queries and spreadsheet analyses to generate both routine and ad hoc reports as well as undertaking benchmarking analysis to support the business and information needs of CWPS.
The successful applicant will be an experienced analyst with a passion for solving problems. An excellent knowledge of SQL, attention to detail and the ability to work under your own initiative are essential.

Job responsibilities
- Support the development, improvement, and automation of the processes of data extraction from Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Undertake the implementation and documentation of developed methodologies for the extraction and maintenance of data from the LIMS.
- Interrogate the LIMS using SQL and further process data using Excel and other tools, presenting data in appropriate formats as requested by the Information Manager and CWPS management team.
- Respond to ad hoc information requests, carrying out complex analysis and provision of data as requested by staff at all levels throughout CWPS, ensuring understanding of data provided and advising on its appropriate use as needed
- Manage the delivery of a programme of routine reports and information sets to a reporting timescale, ensuring that consistent and validated processes are used for the preparation. The reporting cycle includes daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Support the collation and validation of data for submission to mandated national and regional data collections
- Deputise for the Pathology Information Manager during their absence
- Train staff where appropriate to provide resilience to data provision.
- Attend Information service meetings. Participate in highlighting areas of concern and possible causes/remedies. Highlight difficulties in the data quality, completeness and/or interpretation of management information to the CWPS Management Team as appropriate.
