This is an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian with some previous experience in paediatrics who is interested in developing their career in paediatric Dietetics. This post would be suitable for either a current band 6 dietitian or a band 5 who feels ready to step up into a band 6 post.
You will join a team of well-supported and experienced Paediatric Dietitians and an Assistant Practitioner.
You will be supported in your own personal development by a strong Dietetic Management Team. There is access to a healthy training budget for you to attend relevant paediatric courses. You will also have the benefits of being part of a passionate peer network within UHCW and with our partnership organisations in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Main duties of the job
With appropriate training and ongoing support from senior colleagues, the successful candidate will provide specialist dietetic advice for a caseload of patients. There may be an opportunity to have input in paediatric diabetes clinics and coeliac clinics as well as leading on general out patient clinics and ward referrals across a variety of specialities, for example, enteral feeding, eating disorders, allergies, oncology, cystic fibrosis and learning difficulties. The team will support you with identifying any personal development needs and achieving agreed clinical competencies where needed.
Access to a car for work purposes would be preferable, or a willingness to travel on public transport to carry out an occasional home visit may be required - however this is not essential for the post.

- To be clinically competent following appropriate training to give specialist dietetic advice, treatment and dietary counselling to in-patients, out-patient clinic locations including consultant led clinics and structured group education programmes as appropriate, and at home and school visits
- To communicate nutrition and dietetic information in an understandable form to staff, clients and carers, requiring negotiation, persuasion, motivation and counselling skills including situations where there are barriers to change
- To use appropriate communication skills and resources to ensure that suitably accessible information is available to individuals on their dietary treatment/care plans
- To liaise with catering, nursing and dietetic staff to ensure the provision of a satisfactory meal service for individual patient
- To attend and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
- To participate in the health promotion activities of the department and paediatric team
- To work flexible hours to meet the needs of the patients and the service as require
- To cover the work of colleagues and deputise for senior colleagues during periods of absence or peak workload
