Job summary

Due to an uplift in the neurological rehabilitation 2b service at KCH, an exciting opportunity has come up as a Senior Occupational Therapist Band 6 on the mixed rotation. The rotations are across the following clinical areas:

Level 2B neuro rehabilitation- based at Orpington Hospital

Older Adults- acute short stay admissions;

Stroke Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and Stroke Rehabilitation

Trauma Orthopaedics & Surgery

Respiratory Medicine

Renal Medicine

Emergency services (A&E);

Acute Frailty admissions

Level 1B Consortium Neurological Rehabilitation unit - Frank Cooksey based at Orpington Hospital

Frailty rehabilitation unit - based at Orpington Hospital

Elective Orthopaedics - based at Orpington Hospital

Main duties of the job

Including:

1To identify, prioritise and manage patients presenting with impairments for Occupational Therapy intervention.

2. To assess and treat patients with complex needs who would benefit from a co-ordinated multidisciplinary assessment, rehabilitation and discharge service.

3. To be competent in the administration of specific Occupational Therapy assessments of motor, sensory, cognitive, perceptual, psychosocial and functional areas.

4. To be competent in the development and implementation of remedial and preventative treatment programmes addressing motor, sensory, cognitive, perceptual, psychosocial and functional areas, both individually and in group settings.

5. To work closely with patients and carers to incorporate service users views in the setting of goals, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes.
