Job summary
The post holder is a member of a multidisciplinary team developing the use of human islet transplantation and islet cell research. The person will be based at two locations the James Black Centre of King's College London and the Human Cell Isolation Unit at King's College Hospital.
The main responsibility of the post holder is to assist in the isolation of human islets to GMP standards for clinical and research uses.
Qualification
Relevant BSc, in an appropriate Biological/Life Sciences subject.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to assist in the isolation of human islets to GMP standards for clinical and research uses. The duties will include maintaining supplies of reagents and necessary equipment. The ability to work flexibly such as unsocial hours (anytime during the day, night or weekend) is essential as the availability of human pancreas organs for human islets transplantation is unpredictable. The post holder is expected to perform the islet isolation based on one week oncall for every two weeks. Hours worked overtime will be taken as time-in-lieu in non-oncall week.
