Job summary
A new 2b Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit was opened in Orpington Hospital in July 2016. The key aim of Ontario 2b is to offer specialist active rehabilitation to patients with neurological needs, to assist them in achieving physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing, facilitating family, vocational and community engagement. The ward currently has 20 inpatient beds, 14 beds are secured for 2b Neurological Care and 6 further beds for Neurosurgical Step Down patients.
The Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit provides specialist neurological rehabilitation in 15 beds. It was recently relocated to a dedicated fully refurbished ward in Orpington Hospital. In this unit complex physical and cognitive rehabilitation is provided to patients who suffered a stroke, traumatic brain injury, polyneuropathy, myopathy, spinal cord injury, or relapse of progressive neurological disease.
Main duties of the job
Within this role, the successful applicant will work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams led by Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine, a Clinical Service Lead to support the day to day running of the Neuro-Rehabilitation 2B and Step-Down unit and Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit. The Medical, Nursing, Therapy Neuropsychology and specialist social worker work with patients to deliver patient-focused, evidence based rehabilitation program to support functional independence and reintegration to home and community. The successful applicant will also be required to attend and actively contribute to family meetings, complex patient discharge meetings, key-working duties and multidisciplinary team reviews
