Opportunity to gain core surgical experience in a range of aspects of the care of patients from the community or from the within the hospital, who present with a range of surgical problems. The posts will offer candidates a unique opportunity to consolidate their experience in a busy and supportive NHS Foundation Hospital and provide a stepping-stone to the next level of clinical experience. They will have educational teaching, learning and assessment equivalent to those on national specialty programmes. The post holder will also have a tailored training plan created when they start which will be continually updated and evaluated throughout the contract period. We are looking for applicants that are keen to get a place on core training in the UK, the post holder will be supported in terms of teaching and training in order to reach this goal.
This posts are in Urology however it may be possible for the successful applicants to participate in the on-call rota, which is a full shift working pattern and include General Surgery. Applicants should preferably have completed their foundation/intern training and have at least 1 years surgical experience.
Main duties of the job
This post will be based at the Countess of Chester Hospital where all operative work will be undertaken. The appointee will be under the instruction of all Consultants in this Consultant-led Unit. The post-holder will be required to assist in in-patient, day case and out-patient along with Urological surgical procedures and attend weekly out-patient clinics. Occasionally, the post-holder will be required to attend out-patient clinics held in peripheral clinics.

The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
