Job summary

Band 3 Pathology Data Quality Administrator

The post holder is required to provide comprehensive, administrative and IT data support to the North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS), using a variety of systems associated and connected with the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This will involve inputting and extracting data, handling enquiries and problem solving, working to Pathology IT protocols and procedures. This role is key in supporting the cleansing of the patient records in the LIMS and associated systems to ensure they are an accurate record. There will be a requirement to generate, interpret and act on data quality reports, working with colleagues, third parties and suppliers to resolve discrepancies.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be providing and receiving routine information orally, in writing, or electronically to inform work colleagues, clients or other external contacts.
  • There is a requirement to communicate complicated information to other departments and external contacts and other NHS staff.
  • Responsibility for handling telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality using personal judgement to assess each situation and to deal with accordingly.
  • The post holder will be required to develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships within the directorate, the division and the Trust.
  • The data quality element of the work will require tact and persuasion in order to achieve a positive outcome.
  • It is a requirement of the post that information is communicated in a consistent manner in line with Trust and Pathology legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Have excellent keyboard skills and be familiar with the use of database applications, spread sheets, and the Microsoft Office package to include Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ensure the correct use of all tools and equipment, including care that no unauthorised media or processes are used with computers or programmable equipment, which may result in the corruption of data or incorrect operation.
  • Be experienced in all aspects of office administration procedures
